Officers Trained in Performance and Management

The ministry of Public Service has trained the Officers from Kiryandongo District Local Government on Performance and Management.

The training organized by the Principal Human Resource Officer Kiryandongo, Violet Murungi at the Youth Resource Centre on June 14, 2018 targeted the Heads of Departments, Town clerks, Medical in charges of health centers and other Officers.

The training is in line with capacity building efforts of the Human resource department aimed at improving the performance of Officers so as the set targets are met for timely service delivery.

Kiryandongo Calls for Support to the General Hospital

The chairman LCV Kiryandongo District, Charles Ntairehoki has called upon the Ministry of health and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development to intervene immediately and respond to the shortages caused by the tragic accident which occurred on Friday 25th May 2018 at Nanda in Kiryandongo District.

The chairman noted that the theatre, surgical and casualty wards were greatly affected in terms of supplies. All medicines and supplies such as gloves, antibiotics, IV fluids and fuel were used during an emergency.

Regional Referral Status for Kiryandongo General Hospital

Kiryandongo District General hospital administrator, Sam Mutiti Tumwesige has called upon the ministry of Health to upgrade the hospital to a regional referral hospital given the fact that its coverage is greater than what the District plans and budgets for.

The hospital currently serves as regional referral for the Districts in the North and mid west and it is a hospital of first intervention along the Kampala-Gulu high way.

The hospital’s laboratory is internationally accredited and can handle all tests.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEES ASKED TO PROTECT THE WETLANDS

The Chairman L.C.V Kiryandongo District,Charles Nteirehoki has asked the Local government committees to guard and protect the wetlands selfishly for the interest of the future generation.

The chairman was addressing the lower and district local government environment committees’ induction held at the District board room on 08th May 2018.

Mr. Nteirehoki cited the major challenge towards protection of wetlands and environment as politicians who are afraid of evicting their voters from the wetlands.

CASSAVA FARMERS FORM A PLATFORM

Cassava farmers in Kiryandongo have formed an innovation platform aimed at adding value to the locally produced cassava so as to improve on their incomes.

The platform was formed during the cassava innovation platform workshop organized by Issa Byenkya, the District Production Officer.

According to Daisy Eresu, the Head Roots and Tubers at the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the platform will help in developing the cassava subsector, solve the problems as well as negotiate with the government and buyers collectively.
