Bayport donates to Kiryandongo Hospital

Kiryandongo Hospital has received a donation of items worth sh17m from Bayport Financial Services, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

Maureen Kasaija, Bayport's brand marketing manager said they decided to offer support to the hospital after realising that it receives many patients from the neighbouring refugee camp.

“The hospital administrators are struggling to manage the overwhelming number of patients seeking for help every day,” she said.

Bududa landslide survivors in Kiryandongo get permanent houses, to be issued with land titles

The Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has assured people who were relocated to Kiryandongo district following the mudslides that ravaged Bududa in 2010 that government will provide families with land titles. James Wadada, his wife Jennifer Nasita and there three children are part of the 603 families that were relocated to Panyandoli in Kiryandongo district after mudslides on March 1st 2010 struck the villages of Mount Elgon leaving a trail of destruction and death.

Karuma Hydro Power Project Taking Shape

The government of Uganda is undertaking the construction of the largest hydroelectricity dam at Karuma, in Kiryandongo district. The USD 1.7 billion project is funded by Export and Import (EXIM) Bank of China and implemented by China's Sino Hydro Power Company.

The plant is divided into six major components namely a dam section, power intake unit, powerhouse, transformer cavern, surge chamber, pressure shafts, cable shaft and two tail-race tunnels for returning water circulating through the turbines back to the river. 

President Commends People of Kiryandongo District for their Unwavering Support

President Yoweri Museveni has commended the people of Kiryandongo District in Bunyoro Sub-Region for supporting him and the NRM throughout the elections process over the years.
The President was speaking during a by-election campaign for Kibanda North Constituency held today at St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School in Kiryandongo Town Council Kiryandongo district for Member of Parliament for Kibanda North Constituency of Bunyoro Sub-Region. Mr. Sam Otada, an Independent candidate, is challenging NRM’s Taban Amin for the constituency.
